Hi there! My name’s Cass; I’m in the Creative Writing and Anthropology student at SUNY Oswego. I spend way too much time reading, writing, and people watching, and I do it all in the name of research. I’m working towards becoming a professional writer, and I’m currently attempting to write my first children’s book.
To do this, I’ve been rereading some of the great books I loved as a kid as well as some new stuff that I’ve never seen before. I’m loving getting back into the genre and sharing what I find here with you.
This blog is my exploration of children’s literature and all the awesome things I’m enjoying about it. I’m going to share some of my favorite writers and books as well as look at some of the different sub-genres within the genre. I’m looking at everything from poetry and picture books to “chapter books” and YA fiction to see what’s going on in the world of Kid Lit.
When I’m not fiddling on the internet, reading, or writing, I’m usually at work. I’m currently a part-time sales associate in a children’s clothing store (which is really just a fancy way of saying I fold clothes and clean up when kids have “accidents” on the floor).
Some weird facts about me:
I’m terrified of feet (specifically the toes) and have a ridiculous obsession with Dr. Seuss. I love my dog way too much, and I get the hiccups all the time.
Let me know what books you loved and read as a kid or are reading now. I’m always looking for new names and new titles to while away my time. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Cheers for now!
